Heavy Feathers

After receiving a GURF Grant and a Dean’s Award for Summer Research from the Gallatin School of Individualized study and raising funds through an Indiegogo campaign, Joosje started shooting her film Heavy Feathers in the summer of 2015.

Joosje directed and starred in the film. Heavy Feathers tells the story of  18-year-old Myna (Joosje), a young girl who finds out that her father, who passed away right before she was born, might still be somewhere out there. She is eager to find out the truth about her past, but the truth is not easy to come by with a sister (Katherine Romans) who thinks a life in the dark is a better life, and a mother (Laura Lockwood) whose truth is a fairy tale she doesn't even believe in herself.
